How To Make Easy American Buttercream

How To Make Easy American Buttercream

This is my go-to American Buttercream recipe. American Buttercream is one of the most stable ways to cover your cake (aka it won't melt when it's warm... within reason!). It's easy enough to make, and the real butter flavor is so delicious you'll think twice before you reach for that can of store bought icing.

While it's delicious on its own, you can add one of our many flavorings to make it your own. Lemon, Raspberry, and Coffee are some of my favorites.

Is this a crusting buttercream. I was wanting to use it for cookies. Can I stack cookies with this recipe. I want to give it a try. Thank you.

This specific recipe isn’t designed to be a buttercream that gets very hard, but there are other recipes I’ve seen out there that claim to produce a strong crust!
